Great read - succinct, informative, the right amount of humorous! This makes me think of the environmental impact of AI and AC, and their inherent intersection here. Seems potentially wasteful to have these systems at-the-ready, requiring energy for when Bill walks into a room - unless there are energy/power saving features?

I know my colleagues secretly like when the office is too hot/cold, gives them something to complain about.

In theory, AI mediation is supposed to save energy consumption; whether this actually works the way it's intended to is a different story, especially because these systems require a lot of compute power which itself is really energy intensive! So it's kind of a catch-22. Thanks for the read and the comment <3 Also, I'm on board with complaining. Complaining about a mutual reality is a great social bonding exercise.

I wonder who these algorithms are putting in the middle of their search spaces. Flagrantly assuming Bill’s gender, but men tend to run warmer than women, which is why we’re always cold in offices, where temps are usually calibrated to men. This could algorithmically ensure that women will never have a comfy inside temp…
